Maybe growing up is defined as growth in height and weight, puberty striking its ruthless attacks, or just being older. But what comes along with age is also a better understanding of things whether it be understanding boys, understanding maths problems, or, in the case of To Kill A Mockingbird, understanding social hierarchy.I don't think I'm wrong to say that you all understand social hierarchy now -- its a part of high school! But think about this, did you REALLY understand it in elementary school? Did you ever think "oh i can't hang with them, they're nerds." No, didn't think so. That's because you've grown up. You've come to understand social wellbeing and reputations, the same way Jem and Scout did.
Another part of growing up is discovering yourself; finding out who you are. Maybe to you, this means your life ambitions. Maybe you want to be a doctor or a lawyer, or maybe you don't have your life planned out. And I'm sure we've all gone through that stage where our parents try and tell us what we have to do when we grow up, and they just don't understand that maybe you don't want to! Well if that's happened to you, you can sure relate to Biff Loman, who's always held back by his father's expectations, but he discovers himself and does what he wants to do! Yeah, you go brother!! :D
